A Simple Side Table

I made this simple side table using a stool base and a lazy Susan top.
This stool was the type with a particle board/vinyl covered seat--not high quality, but the base is real wood and solid enough.  The lazy Susan top only needed the twisitng base removed (and saved for another project) and then I attached it to the stool legs to the top with screws.
I used my Cricut and some vinyl to make the pattern on top, painted over it and then removed the vinyl, sanded a bit and used stain over it all.

I did paint the base as well.
Simple and the perfect side for a chair or couch or on the porch.

Under $100 Linky Party

Happy almost summer!  Are your kids out of school yet?  Mine have a week left.  Then the whirlwind of camps and activities will start.  With that in mind I have decided that this will be the last linky party until fall.  Summer is just too unplanned and unscheduled with too many days away from the computer.  I hope you will continue to visit my blog and see what I am up to.  I do plan and hope to post more than I have in the past month or so.  Thanks for always supporting my blog--it means the world to me!  I will still feature some great links from this week next week and might throw in a surprise linky party every now and then.  Okay? Potting Bench Inspiration

I know--I have been missing in action recently.  The truth is that I have not been painting/building too much and I have always found it difficult to know what else to post when I am not showing you what I am creating.  I have been busy working in the yard and the house.  This weekend I am in Yellowstone for a little rest and rejuvenation.
When I do get home and back to work I want to build ANOTHER potting bench--they always sell.  This morning I am perusing Pinterest for new ideas.  Here are a few that caught my eye:

I am not sure who originally created this beauty--love the rusted iron work on there!
Fun reuse of salvaged windows, picket fence from Homeroad

Fun, bright colors from Better Homes and Gardens.
So much storage with this bench
Fantastic tin awning on this one from Harterum Blogg
Well, those get my head thinking...off to see more of this and that!

Drawer Shelf For a Fickle Pre-Teen

If my 11 year old daughter had her way, she'd change her room scheme every six months--not going to happen.  We do however always seem to be adding here and there to it.  The latest addition is this shelf unit made form old drawers.
She has a narrow wall between her bedroom door and closet door so this was the perfect spot for a small shelf.
I painted the outside of the drawers white
and the inside in bright colors to match her bedding.
I screwed the drawers to each other and added one long screw into a stud to secure the unit to the wall.  She stylized the shelves.
I like the extra ledges created by offsetting the drawers--perfect for this little mouse,
and my daughter's sand collection.
Her room is not clean right now, but here are some glimpses--one wall has inspirational words and polka dots,
She loves her Paris poster.
I made her L shaped pallet beds (the beds are really messy, but you can see the color here).
This is her art wall,
and the top of her dresser arranged just so.
Her dresser is white with bright colored drawers,
hooks are a lifesaver in a kid's room.
She loves drawing different things on her chalkboard.
It is a happy room and when everything except the bedding is recreated from a thrift store or made from leftover parts and pieces, I guess we can afford to change it up often (I have told her every 2 years).
