A Table That Measures Up

This is a project I wish I had 10 of as I could have sold it over and over at The Prairie Sister's show.  The sweet lady who bought it had a father named Thurman.  Thurman's was an out of business plumbing supply place in Missoula, the town the show was in.  I started by building a basic wooden base, the same I have done so many times.
I washed the yardsticks in color and added a little stain.
I had a thin wood top on the table.  I glued and the nail gunned the rulers in place (after cutting them, of course).
Fun and easy--now to find more yardsticks.

  1. Me, too, love the rulers with different hues in them. I have a question; don't think I'm an idiot, please, for asking---but, I'd like to learn how to use a small skill (?) saw to do some of these things, but afraid I can't manage it. Would you show us ladies how and what type of tools you use? Big table saw for me is out of the question. I love your blog!

  5. Love the table, I'm about to do one myself. You might want to check out Lowe's for some yardsticks. They had them on sale a couple of weeks ago for 0.69 each. I picked up a bunch of them to do a some tables when I get the time.

  6. Could you put a post up about how you made the basic wood base table. I think I might be able to do this if hubby would help me with the table. I'd love to make one of these yard stick topped tables to replace a cheap dest that I've turned into a picture display. Thanks a bunch!
