Sunday Verses

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and

hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will
clap their hands.
Isiah 55:12

Last night was my son's senior prom.  He went with a group of 12 couples, all mostly just friends.  Most of these kids, especially the boys have all been in youth group together for years.  We parents made them dinner, an amazing spread that included prime rib, pasta, salads, cheesecake, and much more.  It was so  fun, the kids had a blast and were full of much joy, as you can see from this enthusiastic picture. Their exuberance and joy spilled over to the stressed out parents.  Just think if each day you were led by joy, joy that made you want to jump, joy that spilled over to those around you, how would your life be different?  I realize there are many things that zap our joy--worries over money, illness, broken relationships.  But my challenge to you this week is to go out in joy and let your actions be led by peace, what could it hurt, right?  Oh, and don't forget to do a little jumping too!

Ski Montana, Vintage Style

Inspired by vintage ski posters, I painted this sign on a few old wood boards.
I free handed the design, not perfect by any means, but I love the vintage feel.
I still may add hooks to the bottom, you know I love a good coat hanger.

Git Yer Gun!

Or at least your gun cabinet.  This is one of the first projects I did at my new job.  Sorry for the low quality photos--took them with my horrible phone camera.  I started with a basic gun cabinet, somehat like this, but not quite so fancy and with some really dated etched glass in it.
I removed the glass and the gun cabinet innards and slapped some white, yellow, and blue paint on the cabinet.  I added red over the top and used tape to take the paint off and distress it.
I then added shelves, some old tongue and groove boards painted yellow for the back, chicken wire where the glass was, and some fantastic yellow knobs.  It sold within a couple of hours of being in the shop.

Under $100 Linky Party

Busy, busy week, a little late here after working a 10 hour day, I have 4 burly teen boys moving in a new fridge as we speak (my 7 yr. old one that had the compressor replaced already once is dying--grrr!).  So onto some linky love.
A Little Knick Knack shared a cute, easy, adds so much canvas table runner.

Brambleberry Cottage made a table chandy from junk.
I have seen dog beds, I have made dog beds, but none as cute as this from Lucy Designs.
Vintage Skye made some great Ballard inspired silverware molds.
Table Scraps Diner did a great job recreating Funky Junk Donna's mantel gate.
Love the Simplicity of this junky wreath Twenty Something.

Go Ahead, Drool

So, I took on another job, because the 2 I already have aren't enough? The Antique Barn that I used to have a booth at (until bad economy hit) asked me if I would come work for them, making junk, painting furniture, etc. I get to set my own hours, work whenever I want.  I am loving it!   I need to remember my camera to show you some of the actual projects I have been working on, but until then I wanted to show you a few things to drool over.  They bought 3 filled to the brim containers from Europe.  They are not even undone packing one yet and have found so many amazing things, chairs from the 18th century, trunks full of old books and dolls, and artwork (much of it ruined unfortunately), mirrors and mirrors and mirrors, farm tables, hutches, huge carved pieces, yadda, yadda, yadda!
Cool old trunk,
An airplane propeller sitting on a trunk,

A great English 2 person school desk,
Fantastic table with huge brass bowl/tub (?) on top,

Beautifully carved sideboard, with sled and dough table,
and these super cool Victorian chimney caps.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.  I hope to get my hands on some of the junkier parts and pieces!

Sunday Verses

But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life."--John 4:14

Do you ever get so busy that you forget to take a drink of water?  You start to notice your mouth is a little dry, you may get a slight headache, feel dizzy or fatigued?  Hopefully you recognize the signs of thirst and take a drink before it becomes dangerous.  What about your spiritual life?  Do you recognize the signs when you forget to drink of the Living Waters?  Life may feel out of control, everyday mishaps seem overwhelming, you feel worried and stressed.  Stop, spend some time with Jesus, drinking in his waters that give us eternal life and help us cope while here on earth.  God built into us the ability to thirst.  Pay attention to when you are spiritually thirsty and drink in his love to quench that thirst and those symptoms will disappear.
