12 Days of Christmas Ideas--Day 1

On the first day of Christmas Beyond the Picket Fence showed me...how to make a paper garland for my tree.

I decided I wanted to make a garland out of paper for my tree.  I have not had garland for a few years because I haven't found something I liked in my colors.  I started by punching out lots of circles from scrapbook paper:
Next I glued circles together so there was print on both sides.  Want to avoid this somewhat tedious step?  Buy 2 sided paper or glue the paper together before punching out circles.
Then I sewed them together, this went quickly, other than I had some tension issues and had to start over half way through.
And that is all--fun garland, in custom colors to fit your needs.  I want to make more to drape around the windows, mirrors, etc.

  1. What a fun idea! I have seen paper circle garlands, but never sewn together. The possibilities for this project are endless! The garland would even look nice on a package instead of ribbon and a bow:) Thanks for the inspiration!

  9. That is really super cute. I bet you could do something similar with just the loops that you let kids do.
